Spinal Injuries, Neck and Back pain
Auto collisions – big or small – can damage joints, ligaments, discs, nerves and muscles in the spine. Whiplash symptoms form a car accident often times don’t show up right away, and can cause you long term pain and symptoms if they aren’t properly evaluated and treated promptly.
If you’ve been involved in an accident, it is important to be evaluated by a Medical Doctor, Chiropractor and Physical Therapist so a team approach can be implemented and coordinated to get you out of pain, and on the road to recovery.
Chiropractic
Our treatment approach at Accident Injury Care of Denver is entirely injury specific and outcome based and focused on achieving functional gains with the goal of restoring normal joint biomechanics and soft-tissue integrity. A joint injury may be the source of your pain, but the muscles and the supporting soft-tissue structures are as much a fundamental problem to be addressed.
For that reason, treatment methods include Dry Needling, Biomedical Acupuncture, Active Release Techniques®, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Spinal and Extremity Manipulation. Go beyond the chiropractic stereotype with Accident Injury Care of Denver with a system wide approach to recovery.
Physical Therapy
Develop your strength, flexibility and resilience with physical therapists trained to work with people like you who have accident injuries like yours.
When an injury strikes, aches and pains cause us to adapt, but not every adaptation is a good one. Pain in one ankle turns into favoring the entire leg, but can turn into back, neck, pelvis and shoulder pain as some muscles become overworked, resulting in chronic pain.
Physical therapy helps restore the injured area, mitigate pain and to return your injury to proper function.
Massage Therapy
Most people don’t know it, but muscular aches and pains from exercise are caused by micro-tears in your muscle as well as lactic acid buildup. In some cases, scar tissue impedes proper function of an area altogether.
Massage helps to alleviate pain through pressure points, working lactic acid out of the belly of the muscle, and by softening fascia, the connective tissue between muscle walls.
In combination with strengthening and aligning muscles and joints, massage is a primary tool in our toolbox for accident injury recovery.
Psychology and pain management
As many know, over reliance on pain medication can result in long term physical harm, including addiction and death. Even over-the-counter pain meds can cause liver damage when over used.
Often the body responds to an initial trigger, tensing up and, in an effort to control the pain, increases and generates secondary and tertiary pain. Our programs include awareness and psychology based techniques to mitigate pain.
Not all pain can be controlled by psychology, and medicines play a role in many treatment plans.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
At Accident Injury Care of Denver, we use a state of the art system developed by Baltimore Therapeutic Equipment for FCE evaluations. This system, built by industry leaders can provide information to assist in determining restrictions, limitations, assist in determination of lost earnings and future medical needs.
